About

Hi, My name is Rohan Krishnan and I am rising sophomore at Worcester Academy, a private school in Worcester, Massachusetts.

This blog is about my travel experiences in Rabat, Morocco where I will be spending my  2017 summer as part of the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program.  While in Morocco, I will receive formal instruction in Arabic and informal language practice in an immersion environment. In addition, I will also be staying for 2 weeks in a Moroccan family as part of a home-stay program.

The NSLI-Y program (sponsored by the US Department of State) seeks to increase the number of Americans who can engage with native speakers of critical languages. The goals of the NSLI-Y program include sparking a life-long interest in foreign languages and cultures, and developing a corps of young Americans with the skills necessary to advance international dialogue and cross- cultural opportunities in the private, academic, and government sectors.
